Sculpture for thought

We went to  Musée Rodin because a friend told us it was her favorite museum in Paris.

It ended up being one of my favorite places in Paris too - this quiet, museum oasis of sculpture away from the fray.

Turns out, The Thinker has a lot going on - sculpture, literature, inspiration, art, heaven, hell.

And some of the best views are from the men's and women's bathrooms, where this was taken, even though you can get close enough to touch it.

The Thinker and the Eiffel Tower.

And Rodin's The Kiss seems really sweet, until you learn the backstory.

Birthday girl

For my birthday I asked for a picnic at the Eiffel Tower. It was about 75º and sunny in Paris.

We had sandwiches (from the bakery near our hotel) and cheese and crackers (from a store in the subway stop) and sat on a towel from our hotel room because we didn't have a blanket.

It was perfect.

And then...

We went back to the Ponts des Arts lock bridge, which we discovered by accident on our first trip Paris three years ago.

It looks terrible. The locks are a blight on the bridge now, with so many that parts of the railings are breaking from the weight. We were happy to just take a photo there.

Me, on my birthday

We started the day at Café Charlot at an outdoor table to watch the Parisian world go by.
